How did we celebrate? A sponsored read. Lots of great books. Dressing up fun!
World book Day 2022: A Class 2 perspective
To celebrate our love of reading we took part in World Book Day. Various characters turned up from a vast array of book titles.
Here are just a few:
‘Frida Kahlo from’ ‘Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls’ by Elena favilli and Francesca Cavallo
‘The Mandolorian’ from ‘The Mandolorian’ adapted by Joe Schreiber
‘Oliver Twist’ from ‘Oliver Twist’ by Charles Dickens
‘Anna’ from ‘The Promised Neverland’ by Kaiu Shirai
‘Mr Fox’ from ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ by Roald Dahl
‘Nikki Maxwell’ from ‘DORK diaries’ by Rachael Renee Russell
‘David’ a soldier from ‘War Horse’ by Michael Morpurgo
‘Grandpa’ from Grandpa’s Great Escape by David Walliams.
‘Jamie’ from ‘The Golden Goal’ by Jamie Johnson
‘Dribbling Drew’ from ‘The World’s Worst Children’ by David Walliams
‘Striker’ from the ‘Unlimited Guide to Fortnite’ by Games Warrior
We started the day with a crossword competition about famous authors and characters. Our year 6 winner was Oliver, Layla won in Year 5 and in Year 4 Jude. Then we spent some time reading our favourite books we had brought in. After we wrote a short summary and recommendation about the book. We then had a colouring competition, colouring beautiful quotes about books.
In the afternoon we finished our recommendations and shared our favourite book with our next door neighbours. Finally, we had a World book Day Anagram Quiz followed by a puzzle called ‘The Masked Reader’.
Using 6 clues, we had to guess the famous reader and their favourite books. We found out that David Walliams’ favourite book is Horrid Henry.
The anagrams were quite tricky but Tobi got ‘autobiography’ from ‘bag hiya uproot’ and Gracie solved ‘oceanic played’ to get ‘encyclopaedia’. Well done both!
Anna enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up in their costumes and seeing what books they liked. Izabel liked guessing peoples costumes. Sonny enjoying finding out the genre of books everyone brought in and Savannah really enjoyed reading her favourite book on World book day
