Supporting your child with reading
Children learning to read is a fundamental skill and vital for their ongoing success. Below are some resources which may help you to support your child reading at home.
Just after your child has started school in Foundation Stage, we hold a meeting to discuss with you as parents how early reading is taught in school.
Listed below is a leaflet from that meeting so that you can access it at any time. There is also a leaflet for parents about children reading for pleasure which has been produced by the United Kingdom Literacy Association.
We will then hold another meeting in Y3 to explain the next stage of teaching reading with the strong emphasis being on improving reading stamina and reading comprehension.
