Our school day starts at 09:00 and finishes at 3:30pm. We open the doors at 08:45 to allow the children to come into school and change their shoes, hang up their coats and get organised for the day ahead.
Children from Year 1 to Year 6 are taught the National Curriculum. Here at Fairburn, this is done through topics. Our school curriculum design has continually evolved over the past few years and will continue to do so to ensure that it remains current and responsive to our children's needs.
During the Summer term each year, all the children make a list of the questions/topics they would like to learn about. We then use these ideas to plan the topics for the following year alongside the statutory National Curriculum.
We are delighted to work in close collaboration with both our local cluster of schools and a teaching school to further enhance the provision we offer in our own school. Not only does this give opportunities for children to get to know the other children in the area, helping them in their transition to secondary school, but also for staff to access high quality professional development.
